Role Overview:
Wire & ACH Processing Specialist is part of the back-office operations team within the Credit Union. The role is responsible for reviewing and releasing all incoming and outgoing wires, processing ACH transactions, and handling share draft processing. This role requires exceptional analytical skills and excellent judgment to identify potential fraud and compliance issues, as well as a solid understanding of banking regulations. The credit union is a dynamic, fast-paced environment that fosters a collaborative and member-driven culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review, verify, and release all incoming and outgoing wire transfers in compliance with internal policies and banking regulations.
- Process Automated Clearing House (ACH) transactions to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Handle share draft processing, including verification and dispute resolution as needed.
- Monitor transactions for red flags, potential fraud, and compliance risks, taking appropriate action when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable banking regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML) policies, and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) guidelines.
- Stay up to date with changes in regulations, industry updates, and best practices related to wire transfers, ACH, and check processing.
- Collaborate with internal departments to resolve discrepancies and provide support for customer inquiries related to wires, ACH, and share draft transactions.
- Be the subject matter expert on wire payment systems and related documentation, keeping policies and procedures up to date.
- Train, guide, and collaborate with employees in the wire transfer process to enhance customer service
- Research wire program functionalities to streamline processes and troubleshoot issues.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare reports as required.
Minimum Expectations of Knowledge and Skills:
- Three years of banking experience in operations, or wire transfers; two-year college degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and banking software applications.
- Familiarity with banking procedures, AML (Anti-Money Laundering) regulations, and wire transfer protocols preferred.
- Strong analytical mindset with a data-driven approach to critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision making.
- Strong communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with diverse stakeholders
Education: Minimum of an Associate's degree in Business, Finance, or related field.
Technology Skills: Experience with Meridian Link, Q2, and Symitar, as part of Jack Henry's core banking platform, is preferred. The candidate must also be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, with advanced skills.
Compliance:
Employees must uphold the credit union's compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and anti-money laundering policies and procedures. Specific functions with BSCU will consider awareness of unusual or suspicious activity relevant to the department. In addition to any other assigned training courses, online BSA and OFAC courses must be completed at least annually, as made available by the Training and Compliance Department.
- Maintains comprehensive knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act, Customer Identification Program, USA Patriot Act, OFAC, Fair Lending, Credit Card Act, FDCPA, and TCPA.
