About the Role:

The primary purpose of this position is to assist the members of our growing community in meeting their financial needs and goals by offering them superior consumer and business products and services. Key responsibilities include supporting growth of the profitability of the small business member base, identifying, developing, and driving results, and acquiring new member opportunities through prospecting, networking, and developing external referral sources. This is done by providing outstanding service and perceived by our members as their Trusted Advisor. 


Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Deliver personalized assistance and advice to consumer and small business members, ensuring an exceptional member experience as defined by our Service Standards and Promises. 
  • Conduct targeted outreach and in-person interactions with small business prospects and members, leveraging member profiling to identify potential sales opportunities and strengthen existing business relationships, including attending industry events and participating in community activities relevant to our target market
  • Complete loan interviews and applications, retrieve proper loan documentation, and complete final loan closings.
  • Collaborate effectively to always do the right thing and strengthen their relationships. 
  • Opening core small business accounts while adhering to procedural guidelines. 
  • Delivers branded members’ experience within aligned sales portfolios by being in the field a minimum of 50% of the time.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of industry trends and regulations.
  • Promote all BrightStar products and services, including but not limited to extended products, mortgages, investment referrals, and Treasury Management Solutions.
  • Supports execution of the sales delivery model to achieve targeted performance and growth of the Credit Union's Small Business segment
  • At times, this position may require support and assistance in other branch locations based on business needs and be available for possible weekend coverage.   
  • Maintain knowledge with B.S.A. Compliance training.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

  • Working knowledge and understanding of financial institution operations and business processes, including technology solutions used in financial institutions' operations.

  • Advanced verbal communication skills: the ability to articulate your thoughts and ideas and develop a point of view about your work.

Minimum Expectations of Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience with financial information, spreadsheets, and financial skills.
  • Experience with in-person membership and sales.
  • Experience working with small business members.
  • Experience meeting or exceeding goals.
  • A working knowledge of small business products and services.

 

Education- High School Diploma / GED / Secondary School or equivalent

Interpersonal Skills- A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and foster sound relationships with other entities (companies and individuals).

Other Skills- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and be proficient with all Microsoft Office applications. Occasionally, this role will be required to assist and support other branch locations based on business needs.

Compliance:

Employees must uphold the credit union's compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and anti-money laundering policies and procedures. Specific functions with B.S.C.U. will consider the awareness of unusual or suspicious activity relevant to the department.

  • In addition to any other assigned training courses, online B.S.A. and O.F.A.C. courses must be completed at least annually, as made available by the Training and Compliance Department.
  • Maintains comprehensive knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act, Customer Identification Program, U.S.A. Patriot Act, O.F.A.C., Fair Lending, and Credit Card Act.
