The primary role of this position is to make a difference in our member’s financial lives by providing the highest quality of service to both internal and external members. In addition, this position is responsible for ensuring the integrity, compliance, and risk management of the company's lending operations. This role involves conducting quality control reviews, monitoring regulatory compliance, identifying and mitigating risks, and ensuring company policies and procedures adherence. The analyst will collaborate with various departments to promote a culture of quality, compliance, and risk awareness within the lending division.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Provide outstanding service to each internal and external member as defined by our Service Standards and Promises.
  • Conduct regular quality control reviews of lending processes and loan files to ensure they meet established standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify areas for improvement and recommend corrective actions to enhance the quality of lending operations.
  • Develop and maintain quality control documentation and reports.
  • Monitor and analyze the company's lending practices to ensure compliance with relevant federal, state, and local regulations, including TILA, RESPA, HMDA, ECOA, FCRA, and the Dodd- Frank Act.
  • Conduct compliance audits and reviews to identify potential issues and areas of non-compliance.
  • Assist in developing and implementing lending compliance policies and procedures.
  • Identify and assess risks related to lending operations and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
  • Conduct risk assessments and provide recommendations for risk mitigation.
  • Regularly maintain and update a risk register to reflect current risk levels and mitigation efforts.
  • Assist in developing, reviewing, and updating lending policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and best practices.
  • Ensure that lending policies and procedures are communicated and adhered to across the organization.
  • Provide training and support to employees on quality control, compliance, and risk management topics specific to lending.
  • Assist in developing training materials and conduct workshops to educate staff on lending compliance requirements and updates.
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate records of quality control, compliance, and risk management activities related to lending.
  • Prepare and present reports on quality control findings, compliance status, and risk management activities to senior management.
  • Serve as a point of contact for regulatory agencies and external auditors regarding lending operations.
  • Coordinate and facilitate regulatory examinations, audits, and inspections related to lending.
  • Stay current on changes in lending regulations, industry trends, and best practices related to quality control, compliance, and risk management.
  • Based on regulatory updates and audit findings, recommend and implement improvements to the lending quality control, compliance, and risk management programs.

Minimum Expectations of Knowledge and Skills:

Experience - Three to five years of similar experience

Education - High School or Equivalent

Interpersonal Skills- Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, both written and verbal.

Other Skills- Strong knowledge of various lending processes, documentation, and regulatory requirements. Underwriting experience preferred.

Compliance:

Employees must uphold the credit union's compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and anti-money laundering policies and procedures. Specific functions with B.S.C.U. will consider the awareness of unusual or suspicious activity relevant to the department. In addition to any other assigned training courses, online B.S.A. and O.F.A.C. courses must be completed at least annually, as made available by the Training and Compliance Department. Maintains comprehensive knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act, Customer Identification Program, U.S.A. Patriot Act, O.F.A.C., Fair Lending, and Credit Card Act.
